Patient: What type of soil should I use to plant in my garden?
The Soil Doctor: Soil is made up of sand, silt, clay, organic matter, living organisms, and pore spaces, which hold water and air. the first objective would be to determine the pH level in your soil. You can accomplish this by understanding the agriculture zoning in your area or by simply testing your own soil with a pH tester, which can be purchased at any plant retail shop for a few dollars. then determine what plant material you want to use whether it's vegetables, annuals, perennials, or some other type of plant.

I find that for roses, a good mushroom compost works well. Vegetables and fruit trees like a mixture of top soil, cow manure, and peat hummus. When in doubt, a good potting mix will do the trick. Our company produces all of the top soils, potting mixes, mushroom composts, and any other elements you may need to help you with your garden.

Patient: My plants are yellowing and have dropping leaves, what do I do? The Soil Doctor: the alkalinity may cause leaf yellowing from magnesium, manganese, or iron deficiency. If you have determined that the pH level in your soil is adequate for your area and plant material and that there's no visible insect infestation, then fertilization may be needed. Be sure to use the proper fertilizer for your plants-citrus fertilizer for citrus plants, palm fertilizer for palms, etc. Once again, when in doubt, a good all purpose fertilizer may be what you need. Our company has a variety of fertilizers to help you with this problem.

Patient: What type of mulch should I use and why do I need to use mulch at all? The Soil Doctor: our company offers every type of mulch you could possibly need for your lawn and garden. Mulching your plant beds has many benefits.

  1. Aesthetic appeal
  2. In winter months, mulch creates a blanket to the root system.
  3. In summer months, mulch helps to protect the root system from intense sunrays and also helps to control the loss of too much moisture due in part to the intense heat.
