Fertilize newly planted citrus every six weeks, March through October, for the first three years with Citrus Fertilizer 4-6-8. Use one-pound per every inch of trunk for the first year. For the second year, use two pounds per feeding. During the third year, use three pounds per feeding. Broadcast evenly under the canopy about six inches away from the trunk. Keep about a three-foot area in diameter around the trunk clear of grass and weeds. the cleared area should grow with the tree size. If the area is mulched, do not let mulch touch the tree trunk. For mature trees, fertilize three times per year (February, May, and October) at the rate of two pounds per every one-inch of trunk. Spread evenly under and outside of canopy at least a foot away from the trunk. Older trees have feeder roots that extend past the drip line of the tree and therefore need fertilizer too. Be sure to water after fertilizing. Available in four-pound, 10-pound, 20-pound, and 40-pound bags. |
